Mixed claim

A statement that combines a checkable fact with an opinion or prediction. It is split so each part is handled correctly.

A mixed claim combines a checkable fact with an opinion, a prediction, or both, in one statement. For example: "The new library will cost $40 million, which is reckless."

TruthRanking splits mixed claims into separate records. The factual part (the cost figure) is rated on the evidence. The opinion ("reckless") is labeled as opinion and gets no truth rating. This keeps a verdict on the fact from being read as a verdict on someone's view. See fact vs. opinion.
